Wry要eck. The same result-wry要eck-may occur as the effect of a disease of the spine, or of some growth in the side of the neck. A similar deformity results also from extensive burns of the neck, since the scar which remains contracts and pulls the head downward. Treatment. - Tbe treatment must be adapted to the cause of the affection. If the difficulty results from a spasmodic or inflammatory condition of the muscle, it may be relieved by treatment addressed to the general health ; tonics and medicines which regulate the stomach and bowels will be found most serviceable. If the side of the neck be very tender and painful, hot fomentations should be applied around the neck, and a dose of Rochelle salts or the citrate of magnesia should be given. If there be no especial tenderness upon pressure, relief from the deformity can often be obtained by ironing the neck with a warm flat-iron, a piece of flannel being laid over the skin. In some cases these and all other measures fail; in these instances the condition can be remedied by a surgical operation which consists in dividing the muscle where it is attached to the breast苑one and the collar-bone.
