Polyp of the Nose. After a time there may occur an occasional discharge of blood in small quantity when the patient blows the nose violently; and there is apt to be an increased discharge from the affected nostril. Sometimes the patient can bring the polyp into view in the nostril by closing the opposite side of the nose with the finger and then expelling the breath forcibly through the remaining nostril. If the polyp be allowed to remain it keeps increasing in size, blocks up the nostril completely, forces the partition between the nostrils toward the opposite side, and may occasion serious deformity of the face. Treatment. - The polyp must be seized with a pair of forceps and gently twisted off. This is usually a simple operation, if the tumor be small; when it has attained a large size considerable difficulty may be experienced.
