Facial ParalysisSymptoms*-This condition is at once indicated by the appearance of the face, some of the symptoms of which have been already described in speaking of hemiplegia. The mouth is drawn toward the sound side of the face ; the patient is usually unable to close the eye or to wink ; the tears escape over the lids and roll down the cheek; the wrinkles are smoothed out of the forehead. The cheek is usually puffed out during efforts to speak, and may be caught between the teeth in chewing. In most cases recovery occurs in the course of a few weeks ; but if the disease originate in some difficulty within the skull, it may be permanent.
